美國一架B-52同溫層堡壘轟炸機（Stratofortress）從愛德華空軍基地（Edwards Air Force Base）起飛沒多久，於加州洛杉磯以北約95公里墜毀，事故現場竄出巨大的黑色濃煙，地面被燒出一大片焦黑，機上8人全數罹難；據全球航空事故資料的「航空事故檔案局」（Bureau of Aircraft Accidents Archive）統計，該機型上次事故，發生於10年前，但機上組員全數生還。
綜合外媒報導，這起嚴重空難，發生於當地時間15日上午11時20分，一架美國空軍B-52同溫層堡壘轟炸機從愛德華空軍基地起飛，於加州洛杉磯以北約95公里墜毀，事故現場竄出巨大的黑色濃煙，地面被燒出一大片焦黑，機上8人全數罹難。
位於日內瓦、專門蒐集全球航空事故資料的「航空事故檔案局」（Bureau of Aircraft Accidents Archive）統計，這次B-52空難事故，是距2016年5月於關島墜毀以來，10年內第二度發生失事；但前次事故，機上7名組員全數生還。
據「維基百科」資訊，B-52同溫層堡壘1948年提出設計方案，1952年第一架原型機首飛，1955年批量生產型，共衍生等8種型號，直到1962年停止生產，大多數早期型先被退役，僅保留較新的H型。
