資深科技產業投資人貝克（Gavin Baker）表示，台灣目前每年僅10萬名新生兒，但台積電每年在台灣的人力需求達到1萬人，而這個數字只會進一步增加。
最新數據顯示，台灣4月新生兒人數僅8,144人，死亡近1.6萬人，已連續第64個月「生不如死」，凸顯台灣的人口危機相當嚴峻，甚至可能波及對台積電這座「護國神山」的人才供應。
貝克表示，由於台灣面臨人力供應缺口，台積電持續在美國擴廠看來勢在必行，尤其是客戶願意對產自美國的晶圓支付更高價格。
