總統賴清德原定於今（22）日出訪友邦史瓦帝尼，出發前夕突然喊卡，另指派特使出席史瓦帝尼「雙慶」國家慶典活動。而幕後正是中國施壓，導致專機航程途經部分國家，臨時取消飛航許可。消息曝光後，美國多位參、眾議員接連發聲譴責中共，公開表態力挺臺灣。
總統府秘書長潘孟安表示，經國安團隊慎重評估，考量元首、訪團及飛航安全，這趟行程將暫緩此次包括塞席爾（Seychelles）、模里西斯（Mauritius）、馬達加斯加（Madagascar）等三國在無預警狀況下，無端取消專機飛航許可，實際原因為中國當局以經濟脅迫在內的強力施壓。
潘孟安直言，這種在國際間絕無僅有，以脅迫手段威逼第三國改變其主權決定之行為，不僅衝擊飛航安全、違反國際相關規範及慣例，更是對他國內政的公然干預，破壞區域現狀，傷害臺灣人民感情。對於北京當局的粗暴行徑，中華民國政府予以強力譴責。
潘孟安強調，中華民國臺灣是主權國家，臺灣是世界的臺灣，兩千三百萬的臺灣人有權走向世界，沒有任何國家有權力阻擋，也無法阻擋。對於連日協助我國交涉相關事宜之理念相近國家，我國也在此表達衷心感謝。
美方收到消息後，接力發聲譴責中共、聲援臺灣。眾議院外交委員會共和黨多數派21日晚間率先在X平台上轉發總統貼文，稱「中共又一次試圖霸凌臺灣，而臺灣是美國的重要夥伴」。文中更表明立場，「我們與臺灣站在一起，反對這種公然的脅迫行為」。

眾院「美國與中國共產黨戰略競爭特別委員會」（House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party）同樣轉發總統貼文，譴責中國試圖透過施壓其他國家拒絕提供飛越許可，來阻撓臺灣總統賴清德出訪的行為。文中直指，「這不是外交，而是意在孤立一個民主夥伴的經濟壓力手段。」最後更明確表態，「美國與臺灣站在一起，並支持臺灣自由與國際社會往來的權利」。

共和黨籍眾議員哈里根（Pat Harrigan）則轉發《路透社》相關報導，指出中國威脅要撤回對三個非洲國家的債務減免，而這三國隨即全面禁止臺灣總統專機飛越領空。他稱「這是一種經濟戰，而且效果顯著」，並表示「當北京掌握了半個非洲大陸的債務時，根本不需要開一槍」。

共和黨參議員克魯茲（Ted Cruz）則引用相關報導，點名模里西斯曾試圖將英國從查戈斯群島（Chagos）趕走，轉而傾向中國。如今，他們又干預臺灣前往非洲的飛航安排。克魯茲認為，模里西斯似乎決心與中共結盟，並以犧牲美國利益為代價。他還提到，模里西斯稱這是他們的主權選擇，但對美國而言，所謂的主權選擇，就應該反制這些行動，並追究相關官員的責任。
