美聯社引述土耳其新聞網（Haberturk）報導，攻擊者攜帶長管武器，與警方交火。目前尚無攻擊者的身分或其動機的相關消息。
土耳其司法部長古爾萊克（Akin Gürlek）表示，當局已展開調查。
路透社的影像顯示，在槍聲響起時，一名警察拔槍並尋找掩護，畫面中可見有一人渾身是血。
以色列領事館附近一向有大量武裝警察駐守。而根據土耳其新聞網，該領事館位於這棟高樓內的一到兩層樓。
電視台畫面顯示，槍擊案發生過後，武裝警察持續在當地巡邏。
土耳其電視台NTV報導，事發於當地時間下午12時15分（格林威治標準時間9時15分）左右。
一名熟悉本案的消息人士告訴法新社，目前沒有以色列外交官「在土耳其境內」。
